Who We Are
Specialized Training for Adult Rehabilitation, also known as START, is a not-for-profit organization that provides services to adults with intellectual disabilities. The agency was founded in 1968, beginning its operations in a church basement. Today, the agency has an array of vocational programs, operates Community Day services programs, Home Based Support Services Facilitation, Group Respite, Fast Track, 24 hour and intermittent Community Integrated Living Arrangements, and serves approximately 140 individuals with intellectual disabilities annually.

Our Vision
START’s vision is for individuals with intellectual disabilities to enjoy meaningful relationships with others, to experience personal growth and development, and to fully participate in activities of their choice in the community.
Our Team
Board of Directors
Our voluntary Board of Directors represents the community we serve: geographically, socially, and culturally. Membership includes a person with an intellectual disability and representatives of the participants in the Agency, although the latter shall not exceed two thirds of the membership.
Management Team
Our management team provides their diverse experiences, expertise, and dedication to our agency to assure the programs our individuals benefit from will be available for years to come.
Professional Team
Our team has a well trained group of professionals with an array of specialties to meet the needs of the individuals we serve.
Direct Support Professionals
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are team members who works directly with people who have intellectual disabilities. DSP’s aim to assist people in realizing their full potential. They help people become integrated and engaged in their community. DSP’s provide direct and individualized supports to the individuals we serve.
